Vegan Tuck Box is a small ethical business run entirely by two vegans, Chrissy Leyland and Kelly Slade. We are passionate about making veganism accessible for all so we set up Vegan Tuck Box to make vegan products more widely available and easier to obtain.

We have been friends since 2003. As part of London Vegan Campaigns we organised many events including the London Vegan Pledge. Having both relocated to Yorkshire, Chrissy to Holmfirth and Kelly to Sheffield we decided to continue our vegan campaigning work together and set up The Vegan Approach. Kelly also co-organised the highly successful Northern Vegan Festival 2013 and Chrissy is joining the team to plan the 2014 event.

Meeting lots of wannabe vegans at The Vegan Approach events, where participants try going vegan for one month, gave us lots of useful insights into the challenges people face when transitioning to a vegan diet. One issue that has come up time and again is availability of vegan snack and treat foods. Some also find reading labels time consuming and are unsure of which products are vegan.

Going vegan is easy as The Vegan Approach shows people how. We set up Vegan Tuck Box to make it even easier. We save you the trouble of looking for vegan products and reading the labels. We increase the types of vegan products available so you don’t have to miss out on your favourite treats. Most of our products are from small vegan companies, and we will continue to support these companies thus helping the vegan economy to grow.

Chrissy Leyland, Vegan Tuck Box

Hi I’m Chrissy. I live in Holmfirth in a totally vegan household of three cats and humans ranging in age from seven to seventy-seven! I’ve been vegan for 26 years and was one of the founders of Pogo Café, a vegan workers co-operative and of London Vegan Campaigns. As part of this grass roots group I helped to organise many successful events such as free vegan food fairs, and the London Vegan Pledge.

I also run a local group Huddersfield Vegans, and a national group The Vegan Approach. I am a school speaker for Animal Aid, a local contact for The Vegan Society and am pleased to be joining the team to organise the Northern Vegan Festival 2014.

Hi, I’m Kelly. I live in Sheffield with my partner Jamie and our two rescued dogs George and Gina who are also vegan. I have a major sweet tooth and a huge chocolate addiction so I’m really excited about finding new sweet treats to share with you. In addition to Vegan Tuck Box, I also run a monthly pop-up vegan diner called Rockerbellas, co-organise the annual Northern Vegan Festival, Sheffield Vegan Meetup and a national group called The Vegan Approach. I’m passionate about being vegan and showing others how simple it can be and hope that Vegan Tuck Box will make it even easier.
